Responding to infants’ babbling promotes language development

June 3, 2024

Keep the (proto-)conversation going! Recent publications from the B.A.B.Y. Lab show that when parents verbally respond to babbling, infants are more likely to babble back in response, extending the interaction. Longer and more frequent vocal turn-taking interactions were related to better language outcomes at two. Read more about these findings in Infant Development and Behavior and Infancy!
